
Bayelsa State Polytechnic, Aleibiri, wishes to announce the commencement of a comprehensive recruitment exercise aimed at strengthening its academic and professional workforce. The institution invites applications from qualified and suitably experienced individuals for both teaching and professional/technical (non-teaching) positions across several schools and departments. 1. Vacancies in the School of Science:
The School of Science has multiple openings across key academic departments. In the Department of Computer Science, applications are sought from specialists in Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Security for roles including Lecturer I, Lecturer II, Lecturer III, Assistant Lecturer, and Technologist.
The Department of Statistics requires candidates for Lecturer I and Lecturer II roles. Similarly, the Department of Survey and Geo-Informatics has openings for Lecturer II and Assistant Lecturer, while the Department of Library Science seeks a qualified Library Officer.
2. Opportunities in the School of Management Sciences:
Within the School of Management Sciences, the Department of Mass Communication is recruiting for Lecturer II, Lecturer III, and Technologist positions. Applicants with specialization in Film and Media Production are particularly encouraged to apply, as the Polytechnic continues to expand its practical and creative academic offerings.
3. Engineering School Recruitment:
The School of Engineering also features prominently in this exercise.
The Department of Civil Engineering requires a Senior Lecturer and a Technologist.
In the Department of Building Technology, vacancies exist for Senior Lecturer, Lecturer II, Lecturer III (Quantity Surveyor), and Technologist.
The Mechanical Engineering unit is seeking a Lecturer I and Technologist, while the Department of Computer Engineering has an opening for a Technologist.
4. Foundation Studies Positions:
The School of Foundation Studies, specifically the General Studies Department, is recruiting a Lecturer II. Applicants must be graduates of English Language with a Master’s Degree, reflecting the importance of communication skills in foundational education.
Professional and Technical (Non-Teaching) Roles:
Beyond academic positions, the Polytechnic is also recruiting for Professional and Technical staff. The Student Affairs Unit requires a Physical Instructor (Football Coach) to support sports development and student wellbeing. This role is vital to promoting extracurricular engagement and physical fitness on campus.
Qualification and Experience Requirements
For the Senior Lecturer position, candidates must possess a relevant Master’s Degree with at least twelve years of teaching, research, or industrial experience, alongside evidence of conference and journal publications. Alternatively, a Doctorate Degree with a minimum of nine years experience, relevant publications, and membership of an appropriate professional body is acceptable.
Applicants for Lecturer I roles should hold a Master’s Degree with at least nine years experience and documented scholarly contributions, or a PhD with three years experience and journal publications. Professional body membership is compulsory.
For Lecturer II, requirements include a relevant Master’s Degree with six years experience and publications, or a Doctorate Degree with at least two published works.
The Lecturer III role requires a relevant Master’s Degree and at least one conference or seminar paper.
An Assistant Lecturer must possess a good Bachelor’s Degree (minimum of Second Class Lower) or HND (Lower Credit) in a relevant field, along with an NYSC Discharge Certificate or exemption letter.
For Technologist positions, candidates should have an HND at Credit level in the relevant discipline plus NYSC certification.
The Library Officer role requires an ND at Credit level in Library and Information Science or Technology with at least three years post-qualification experience.
The Football Coach position requires a National Institute for Sports Grade I Coaching Certificate and at least one year of coaching experience.
