The Enugu State Scholarship and Education Loans Board (ESSELB) has released the schedule for the Online Computer-Based Test (CBT) for candidates who applied for the 2025 Teachers Scholarship Program. This important stage in the selection process provides applicants with the opportunity to demonstrate their academic readiness and competence through an online examination.
According to ESSELB, the CBT will take place on Saturday January 10th, 2026, between 7:00am and 9:00am, with a total test duration of 60 minutes.
The examination will be conducted fully online, meaning candidates can participate from any location as long as they have a stable internet connection and a compatible device.
The Board also addressed an issue encountered during the application phase. Some applicants reportedly used incorrect email addresses and were therefore unable to receive the notifications regarding the examination date and time. To resolve this, all affected candidates are advised to log into their dashboards using their Application Numbers rather than relying on email notifications. This ensures that no eligible candidate is excluded due to technical errors during registration.
Fair and Transparent Selection Process
ESSELB emphasized that scholarship selection will be based on performance per Local Government Area (LGA). Equal slots have been allocated to all LGAs across the state, and candidates will be selected based on their individual performance within their respective LGAs. This system guarantees balanced representation and promotes fairness, ensuring that every local government has equal opportunity in the scholarship allocation process.
Test Format and Login Method
The CBT will be administered online. Candidates are required to log in using their application number to access their dashboards and begin the examination. Once logged in, applicants should click on the “Start Test” button when it becomes available and complete the test within the allocated time.
Technical Requirements
To ensure a smooth examination experience, candidates must meet the following technical requirements:
Device: A smartphone, tablet, or desktop computer.
Internet: Stable internet connection (minimum recommended speed of 2Mbps).
Browser: Updated versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Microsoft Edge.
Backup Connection: Candidates are encouraged to have an alternative internet source ready, such as mobile data or Wi-Fi network.
Environment: A quiet and distraction-free location is required. The use of cyber cafés is strongly discouraged.
Important Instructions for Candidates
Candidates are advised to locate an area with stable internet connectivity and test their connection ahead of time. Logging in at least 10 minutes before the scheduled start time is strongly recommended. Once the test begins, candidates must read all questions carefully before selecting their answers.
The CBT cannot be paused once started, so uninterrupted focus is required throughout the session. Candidates must submit their answers before the time expires. Refreshing the page, minimizing the browser, opening another application, or closing the browser during the test is strictly prohibited. Any attempt to do so may trigger the system’s cheat detection mechanism and result in automatic cancellation of the examination.
Multiple logins will automatically invalidate the test session. External assistance of any kind is not allowed, as the examination is an individual assessment.
How to Access the Online Test
1. Visit the application status page at apply.esselb.en.gov.ng and select the Teachers Scholarship option.
2. Log in using your Application Number
3. Click on the “Start Test” button when it becomes active.
4. Complete the test within the allocated time.
Candidates may use any device with internet access but must avoid using public cyber cafés to minimize disruptions and security risks.
The Enugu State Scholarship and Education Loans Board encourages all candidates to prepare adequately, ensure their devices are functional, and maintain stable internet connectivity ahead of the examination time. This CBT represents an important opportunity for aspiring teachers to secure financial support for their education and contribute meaningfully to the future of education in Enugu State.
The notice was officially signed by the Management of ESSELB, wishing all candidates the best of luck in the examination.
