Apply for AKSU New Health Science Degree Programmes 2025/2026

Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU) has officially received approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to commence seven full-time Bachelor’s degree programmes in the Faculty of Health Sciences beginning from the 2025/2026 academic session. The approval was conveyed in a letter dated 23rd December 2025, marking a significant milestone in the University’s expansion of academic offerings in health and medical sciences.

According to a statement issued by the University Management, the newly approved programmes are designed to strengthen healthcare education, manpower development, and professional training in Nigeria, particularly within Akwa Ibom State and its surrounding regions. The approved programmes include:

1. Nursing Science (B.N.Sc.)

2. Public Health (B.Sc.)

3. Community Health Science (B.CHS.)

4. Health Information Management (B.HIM).

5. Science Laboratory Technology (B.Sc.)

6. Medical Laboratory Science (B.MLS)

7. Environmental Health Science (B.EHS)

With this approval, AKSU is now positioned to admit qualified candidates into these programmes for the upcoming academic session. Consequently, the University has opened its online portal for applications and invited suitably qualified candidates to apply.

Eligibility Requirements

Admission eligibility varies depending on the programme selected. Candidates seeking admission into Nursing Science (B.N.Sc.) must have selected Akwa Ibom State University as their First Choice Institution during the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and must have scored a minimum of 290.

For all other programmes within the Faculty of Health Sciences, applicants must have obtained a minimum UTME score of 265. Candidates who did not initially choose AKSU as their first choice institution but are interested in any of the approved programmes are strongly advised to effect a Change of Institution to Akwa Ibom State University via the JAMB portal without delay.

Only candidates who meet these requirements and successfully complete the online registration process will be considered for admission.

Online Registration Timeline

The University portal officially opened for registration on Monday, 5th January 2026. Interested candidates are encouraged to complete their registration promptly to avoid last-minute challenges and technical delays.
Documents Required for Online Screening

Applicants are expected to upload scanned copies of the following documents during the registration process:

  • 2025 UTME Result Slip
  • Birth Certificate
  • Certificate of Origin
  • AKSU PUTME Registration Confirmation Slip (2025).

All documents must be uploaded in JPG format with a minimum file size of 120KB and a maximum size of 150KB.

Registration Procedure

To complete the registration, candidates should follow these steps:

1. Visit the University portal at https://www.aksu.edu.ng/app

2. Click on “START NOW.”

3. Select “Enrol.”

4. Click on “PUTME.”

5. Enter your JAMB Registration Number.
Click the arrow below to verify and continue.

6. Proceed to make a payment of N2,000 only as the registration fee (excluding bank charges). Payment can be made using a debit card or bank transfer.

7. Upload the required documents in the specified format and size.

8. Preview all entered information carefully to ensure accuracy.

9. Click “Finish” to generate and print the Registration Confirmation Slip.

Candidates are advised to keep their confirmation slip safely, as it may be required for further admission processing.

The University Management has clearly stated that AKSU does not operate through agents or third-party admission vendors. Applicants are warned against making payments to individuals claiming to offer admission assistance, as such actions are done strictly at the applicant’s own risk.
