The Akwa Ibom State Government has announced the commencement of payment of a one-time transport allowance of Fifty Thousand Naira (₦50,000) to applicants who participated in the recently concluded Civil Service Recruitment Computer Based Test (CBT).
The announcement was made through the Ministry of Science and Digital Economy as part of efforts to support job seekers across the state. According to the Ministry, the payment is in line with the directive of His Excellency, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, who approved the allowance to ease the financial burden incurred by applicants during the CBT examination process. The initiative reflects the state government’s commitment to inclusive governance, youth empowerment, and transparent recruitment processes within the civil service.
Eligible applicants are required to log in to the Akwa Ibom State Employment Portal to check their transport allowance payment status. The portal can be accessed via https://employment.akwaibomstate.gov.ng. Upon visiting the site, applicants should click on the login option and enter the email address and password used during their CBT application.
Once logged in, applicants can access their personal dashboard, where they are advised to navigate to the Payments section. This section allows users to confirm their payment status, track payment progress in real time, and download an official payment receipt after successful disbursement.
Applicants are also advised to log out after accessing their accounts to ensure data security.
The Ministry reassured applicants that payments are being processed systematically and urged beneficiaries to remain patient if their status shows pending. It also emphasized that no agent or third party is required to facilitate the payment process, warning applicants to avoid fraudsters.
This gesture has been widely welcomed by applicants, who describe it as a rare and commendable move by a state government. The transport allowance initiative further strengthens confidence in Akwa Ibom State’s civil service recruitment exercise and sets a positive example for public sector reforms in Nigeria.
