The Nigerian Army has dismissed a recruitment advertisement currently trending across social media and various online platforms claiming that applications are now open for the “Nigerian Army Direct Short Service Course (DSSC) 29 Application Form 2026.”
According to a statement issued by the Acting Director, Directorate of Army Public Relations, Colonel Anele Appolonia, the information being circulated is false, fake, and misleading, as the Nigerian Army has not authorized any such recruitment exercise.
The Army clarified that no recruitment or commissioning process is ongoing for both the Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) and Short Service Commission (SSC) at the moment. It urged the public to disregard the advertisement in its entirety, stressing that it did not originate from the Nigerian Army or any of its approved communication channels.
The statement emphasized that whenever recruitment is officially approved, it will be publicly announced through verified platforms such as:
- The official Nigerian Army website at https://recruitment.army.mil.ng
- Recognized social media pages
- National newspapers
- Other accredited media outlets
The Army further cautioned Nigerians to remain vigilant and avoid falling victim to fraudsters who exploit fake recruitment notices to deceive and extort unsuspecting applicants. It reiterated that the Nigerian Army does not charge any fee for recruitment into its ranks.
Citizens with credible information about individuals or groups involved in such fraudulent schemes have been encouraged to report immediately to the nearest security agency for appropriate action.
The Nigerian Army reassured the public of its commitment to professionalism, transparency, and accountability while urging Nigerians to always seek information from verified sources.
