
Ekiti State Scholarship Board portal Opens for 2025/2026 Applications
The Ekiti State Scholarship Board has opened a portal for the 2025/2026 academic session scholarship and bursary application and is inviting indigenes of Ekiti State who are currently pursuing higher education in tertiary institutions across Nigeria, including the prestigious Nigerian Law School to apply.
The scholarship programme is in line with the state government commitment to supporting education, reducing financial hardship on students among the Ekiti indigenes. Qualified students are encouraged to apply within the application timeline as late submissions will not be accepted.
Application Portal Opening and Closing Dates
According to the announcement as released by the Board, the scholarship portal opened from Monday 9th February, 2026, and will omclose on Friday 27th February, 2026.
Interested students are advised to fill and submit their applications before the closing date. Failure to do so may lead to disqualification and also no late submission will be accepted.
Categories of Students Eligible for the Scholarship
The Ekiti State Scholarship and Bursary Awards are open to several categories of students. These include:
1. Undergraduate Students
Undergraduate applicants must be in 200 level or above at the time of application.
2. Postgraduate Students
- Students pursuing Master’s and Ph.D. programmes are also eligible.
3. Students with Disabilities
- The Board has also made provisions for physically challenged students.

Students currently studying in the following institutions across Nigeria can apply:
- Universities
- Polytechnics
- Colleges of Education
- Schools of Nursing and Midwifery
- Colleges of Health Technology
- Postgraduate institutions

General Eligibility & Requirements
To qualify for the Ekiti State Scholarship and Bursary Awards, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Applicants must be indigenes of Ekiti State.
- Must be currently in 200 level or above.
- Must possess WASSCE or NECO results with at least five credits, including English Language and Mathematics, obtained in one sitting.
- Must meet the required academic performance standards
These requirements are set to ensure that only serious and academically committed students benefit from the programme.
Minimum Academic Requirements by Institution Category
The scholarship is merit-based, and applicants must meet minimum academic standards depending on their institution type they are studying in.
1. University Students
University applicants must have minimum CGPA of 4.0, or a Second Class Upper Division (2:1). This requirement reflects the Board’s focus on rewarding academic excellence.
2. Polytechnic and College of Education Students
Students in polytechnics and colleges of education must have minimum CGPA of 3.50 or its equivalent. Applicants who do not meet thisvminimum standards may not be considered.
3. Postgraduate Scholarship
Students applying for postgraduate scholarships must meet additional requirements to include a minimum of Second Class Upper Division at undergraduate level.
Ph.D. applicants with a distinction in their Master’s degree will have an added advantage
The Board has clearly stated that Ph.D. applicants without a Second Class Upper Division at undergraduate level or without a distinction in their Master’s degree are not eligible.
This ensures that postgraduate sponsorship is awarded to the most academically outstanding candidates.
Special Provision for Physically Challenged Students
The scholarship programme also provides opportunities for physically challenged students studying in:
- Universities
- Polytechnics
- Colleges of Education
Nursing and health institutions - Postgraduate schools
This category highlights the Board’s dedication to fairness, inclusion, and equal access to education.
It ensures that disability does not become a barrier to academic and professional success.
Required Documents for Application
Applicants are required to upload the following documents during the filling of the application form:
- Recent passport photograph
- Admission letter
- Birth certificate
- Recent school fees payment receipt
- National Identification Number (NIN).
- Recommendation letter from chapter president.
- Local Government Certificate of Origin (Indigene Certificate).
