The Federal Ministry of Works has announced an extended call inviting unemployed graduate engineers and skilled technical workers across Nigeria to participate in a nationwide capacity building and on-site training initiative. This programme forms part of a broader national development drive championed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu under the Renewed Hope Agenda, with a strong focus on youth empowerment, technical competence, and infrastructure delivery.
This intervention is designed to strengthen Nigeria’s construction workforce by combining practical exposure with structured mentorship. Participants will be attached to contractors handling Federal Ministry of Works projects in locations close to their local government areas. During this engagement, beneficiaries will gain real-life experience while contributing meaningfully to ongoing national projects.
Purpose of the Programme
Nigeria’s infrastructure sector requires skilled hands and competent professionals to meet growing development needs. This initiative seeks to bridge the gap between academic learning, vocational skills, and real-world construction practice. By engaging unemployed graduates and artisans, the Ministry aims to build a sustainable talent pool capable of supporting present and future public works.
Key objectives include equipping young professionals with modern construction techniques, reducing joblessness through temporary engagement, strengthening project execution, and ensuring technology transfer within the local workforce. The programme also promotes regional inclusion by deploying participants to projects within or near their communities.
Qualifications and Eligibility
The training opportunity is open to two major categories: graduate engineers and skilled artisans.
1. Graduate Engineers must hold B.Eng, B.Tech, or HND qualifications in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering from recognized institutions. Applicants should be Nigerian citizens between 18 and 35 years of age and must not be engaged in full-time employment or government service at the time of application. Evidence of National Youth Service Corps completion, exemption, or exclusion is required.
Candidates should also demonstrate basic computer knowledge, show readiness to participate fully in field-based learning, and be willing to work in any local government area where Federal Ministry of Works projects are ongoing.
2. Skilled Artisans are equally encouraged to apply. This category covers individuals with practical expertise in masonry, carpentry, steel reinforcement, plumbing, welding and fabrication, electrical installation, heavy equipment operation, surveying assistance, and related construction trades.
Eligible artisans must be Nigerian citizens aged 18 to 45, currently without employment, physically fit for site activities, and willing to undergo further safety training and supervised attachment.
What Participants Will Gain
Successful applicants will benefit from temporary engagement that includes monthly stipends, hands-on learning at active construction sites, and mentorship under registered engineers or certified supervisors. The Ministry will also provide basic personal protective equipment to ensure safety during project execution.
Upon successful completion, participants will receive certification, enhancing employability within the construction sector. Outstanding performers may receive priority consideration for future engagements with government agencies or private contractors handling public projects.

Graduate engineers must attach a detailed curriculum vitae, academic certificates, NYSC certificate or exemption letter, a recent passport photograph, valid identification, and a local government area certificate of origin.
Artisans should submit a CV or competency summary, trade test certificate or proof of experience, passport photograph, valid identification, and local government area certificate.
All documents should be clearly scanned and properly labeled to aid assessment.
Important Dates and Selection Process
Applications must be submitted on or before Monday, 26th January 2026.
Submissions received after this date will not be considered. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for verification, screening, and orientation exercises before deployment to project sites.
