
The Niger Delta University (NDU), Wilberforce Island, Bayelsa State, has announced a major recruitment exercise aimed at strengthening its academic workforce and improving service delivery across its faculties and administrative units. The university is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill numerous academic and non-teaching vacancies in line with its commitment to expanding teaching capacity, enhancing research output, and maintaining national and global academic standards.
According to the university management, the recruitment drive is part of a strategic effort to address manpower gaps, improve instructional quality, and support the institution’s growing student population. Academic Positions Available
NDU is recruiting for two major academic cadres: Assistant Lecturer and Lecturer II, covering a wide range of disciplines across several faculties.
In the Faculty of Agriculture, vacancies exist in Soil Physics, Land Resources Management, Pasture and Range Management, Animal Products and Handling, Fish Nutrition, Fish Breeding and Genetics, Agricultural Finance, Crop Science, Crop Breeding and Genetics, Animal Nutrition and Biochemistry, and Animal Reproductive Physiology.

In the Health and Medical Sciences, the Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences is recruiting for Anatomical Pathology, Chemical Pathology, Haematology and Immunology, Medical Microbiology and Parasitology, and Pharmacology. The
Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences has vacancies in Human Anatomy, Human Physiology, Biochemistry, Virology, Histopathology, Haematology/Blood Transfusion Science, and Chemical Pathology. Meanwhile, the Faculty of Clinical Sciences requires professionals in Ophthalmology, Mental Health, Orthopedics, Dentistry, Radiology, and Otorhinolaryngology.
The Faculty of Education is seeking qualified candidates in Building/Wood Work, Metal Work/Automobile, Electrical/Electronics, Human Kinetics/Health Education, Business Education, Civic Education, and Social Science Education.

Academic Staff Requirements
For the Assistant Lecturer position, candidates must possess a good first degree of not less than Second Class Lower Division and a Master’s degree, or a Master’s degree with relevant professional registration. Applicants must also be registered on Google Scholar. Special professional requirements apply in certain fields.
Engineering applicants must hold a B.Eng or B.Tech with professional registration. Environmental Sciences applicants must possess a B.Sc or B.Tech with professional registration.
Medical Laboratory Sciences applicants must have B.MLS with AMLSCN or FMLSCN registration. Nursing applicants must hold B.N.Sc with RN registration, while Pharmacy applicants must possess a B.Pharm degree.
For the Lecturer II cadre, applicants must have a Ph.D. from a recognized university, or a Master’s degree with at least one journal publication and a minimum of three years of teaching or research experience. Registration on Google Scholar is mandatory.
Additional professional requirements include M.Eng or M.Tech registrable with COREN for Engineering, M.Sc or M.Tech registrable with ARCON, CORBON, ESVABON, NES, QSRBN, SURCON or TOPREC for Environmental Sciences, B.MLS plus a Master’s degree for Medical Laboratory Sciences, B.N.Sc with RN and a Master’s degree for Nursing Sciences, Pharm.D with PCN registration for Pharmacy, and MBBS with Ph.D or Fellowship and MDCN registration for Clinical Sciences and Medical Doctors.
Non-Teaching Positions Available
In addition to academic roles, the university is recruiting qualified personnel for several non-teaching positions. These include Technologist II, Laboratory Scientist II, Medical Laboratory Technicians, Pharmacy Technicians, Nursing Officers, Agricultural Superintendents, and Farm Officers II.
For Technologist II and Laboratory Scientist II, applicants must possess HND, Final Diploma or B.Sc (professional degree), be registrable with the relevant professional body, and present a valid NYSC certificate. Medical Laboratory Technicians must hold WASC or SSCE with three years of training and registration with the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria. Pharmacy Technicians require WASC or SSCE with three years of training and registration with the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria.
Nursing Officers must possess N.R.N or N.R.M qualification. Agricultural Superintendents require OND or ND in a relevant field, while Farm Officer II applicants must have HND with PGD in Agriculture or B.Agric/B.Fisheries plus NYSC certificate.
