Anambra State Internal Revenue Service  Opens Recruitment for Graduates and Experienced Professionals.

The Anambra State Internal Revenue Service (AIRS) has announced a major recruitment exercise as part of its ongoing institutional reforms aimed at strengthening human and organisational capacity within the Service. This strategic move underscores the Anambra State Government’s commitment to building a modern, efficient, and technology-driven revenue administration system capable of supporting sustainable economic development.

Through this recruitment, AIRS seeks to attract talented graduates and seasoned professionals with the requisite qualifications, experience, and skills to fill critical leadership, managerial, technical, and operational roles across the Service. General Eligibility Requirements

Applicants interested in any of the advertised positions must meet the following general requirements:
Possession of the minimum academic and professional qualifications specified for the chosen role.

Demonstrable computer literacy and the ability to work with modern digital tools.
Strong interpersonal, leadership, communication, and teamwork skills.
Applicants are permitted to apply for only one (1) position. Multiple applications will result in automatic disqualification.

These requirements apply across all roles, from entry-level trainee positions to top executive appointments.

Leadership and Director-Level Positions

At the top of the recruitment list is the position of Executive Chairman (AIRS 001). Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Law, or a related discipline, along with professional membership such as FCA, FCCA, FCNA, or FCTI. A minimum of 20 years’ experience is required, including at least five years at a senior leadership level.

Other director-level opportunities include Director (Direct Tax – AIRS 002), Director (Informal Sector & Non-Tax – AIRS 003), Director of Internal Operations (AIRS 004), and Director of Compliance & Enforcement (AIRS 005).

These roles require between 12 and 20 years of relevant experience in tax administration, revenue management, compliance, enforcement, or internal operations, depending on the position. Professional certifications such as ICAN, ANAN, ACCA, CITN, or a Law qualification are mandatory or highly preferred for most of these roles.

Assistant Director Positions

AIRS is also recruiting for several Assistant Director roles to support strategic and operational functions:
Assistant Director, Finance & Accounts (AIRS 006): Candidates must possess a degree in finance-related disciplines, professional accounting certification, and 8–10 years of progressive finance leadership experience, preferably within government or public sector institutions.
Assistant Director, Technology & Data Services (AIRS 007): This role targets ICT professionals with degrees in computer-related fields, recognised professional body membership, and certifications in IT governance, project management, cybersecurity, or cloud infrastructure.
Assistant Director, Admin & HR (AIRS 008): Applicants must have strong backgrounds in human resources and administration, supported by professional HR certifications such as CIPM or SHRM.

These positions reflect AIRS’ emphasis on strong financial controls, digital transformation, and effective people management.

Revenue Management and Officer Cadres

For professionals seeking mid-level and operational roles, AIRS offers several opportunities within revenue administration:

Chief Revenue Officer (AIRS 009): Requires 5–8 years of experience, a degree or HND in accounting-related fields, and professional certification such as ACA, ACCA, or ACTI.

Revenue Manager (AIRS 010): Candidates must have 5–6 years of experience and deep practical knowledge of Nigerian tax laws, including the Personal Income Tax Act and Anambra State Revenue Administration Law.

Assistant Revenue Manager (AIRS 011): Requires 3–5 years of relevant experience and similar academic and professional qualifications.

At the operational level, Revenue Officers (AIRS 012), Assistant Revenue Officers (AIRS 013), and Trainee Revenue Officers (AIRS 014) are being recruited to strengthen frontline tax assessment, collection, and taxpayer engagement. These roles are open to candidates with degrees, HNDs, or ONDs in relevant disciplines, with experience. requirements ranging from none to three years.

Skills and Competencies

Across all cadres, AIRS places strong emphasis on numerical and analytical skills, ethical conduct, communication ability, and basic understanding of Nigerian tax laws and public administration principles. Successful candidates must also demonstrate the capacity to learn internal software systems and adapt to a technology-enabled work environment.
